We are actively seeking a Purchasing, Buying and Scheduling Manager who will elevate procurement strategies, enhance supplier partnerships, and optimise sourcing processes to align seamlessly with ambitious business goals.
Responsibilities
- Strategically manage and place routine purchase orders based on demand from efficient Kanban systems and MRP scheduling for long lead time items, ensuring a streamlined supply chain.
- Maintain and refine Kanban systems and inventory levels, achieving the perfect balance between cost savings and product availability.
- Set up efficient stock codes and manage reorder levels to optimise stock control and procurement efficiency.
- Generate insightful monthly stock reports and lead Stores personnel, taking full ownership of the Stores operation to ensure seamless processes.
- Proactively address health and safety concerns, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with the Production Manager on COSHH Sheets to maintain a safe working environment.
- Issue timely weekly rollover schedules for Control Panels, Chassis Fabrications, and GRP parts to suppliers, facilitating just-in-time deliveries to production.
- Take initiative in chasing overdue orders and managing shortages with suppliers, producing comprehensive weekly shortage reports using MRP systems and maintaining an organised Stores shortage board.
- Partner closely with the technical department to source innovative new products or viable alternatives for short supply items.
- Execute general administrative duties related to stock control and purchasing with precision and efficiency.
- Lead the year-end stock take process and manage a systematic cyclic counting procedure to ensure inventory accuracy.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, showcasing a robust track record of success.
- Proven expertise in procurement and inventory management, backed by strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with suppliers.
