We are recruiting an experienced H&S Manager to lead and develop Health & Safety across a busy manufacturing environment working on a permanent basis near Leyland. Salary is Β£52-62,500 per annum (negotiable, depending on experience) plus holidays, pension etc.
About the H&S Manager role:
- Lead and develop Health & Safety policies, procedures and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including PUWER, DSEAR, COSHH and RIDDOR.
- Complete and oversee risk assessments covering machinery, chemicals, manual handling, noise, DSE and warehouse activities.
- Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Manage liability claims and liaise with insurers, legal advisors and relevant internal teams.
- Oversee contractor management, permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
- Maintain emergency procedures covering fire safety, first aid, spill response and evacuation.
- Carry out audits, inspections and toolbox talks.
- Provide Health & Safety advice, guidance and training to managers and employees.
- Monitor H&S performance and report on key measures.
- Act as the main point of contact for regulators, enforcement bodies, insurers and external auditors.
- Promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture throughout the site.
About the H&S Manager:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Significant Health & Safety experience within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering or construction would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Confident working with stakeholders at all levels.
- Practical, proactive and able to operate effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
