Safety Case Manager in Glasgow

We are looking for a Safety Case Manager to work on a long term contract in Glasgow/Hybrid (3 days in Glasgow/2 days from home).

Rate is c£85-90 Ltd per hour.

Our client is looking for someone who holds SC Clearance or has the ability to gain prior to starting.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be a Sole UK National.

Safety Case Manager Duties/Responsibilities

The Safety Case Manager will be responsible for planning, overseeing, supervising and assessing the development of safety case documentation to support the programme\’s overall Safety and Environmental Case. Working alongside specialist project safety managers and reporting to the Head of Safety, this role will ensure that all safety case activities are robust, compliant, and aligned with relevant good practice.

You will engage with internal project stakeholders and external customer groups, providing expert guidance on safety assurance throughout the project lifecycle. At times, the role may also involve authorship of safety cases and supporting safety management arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the development of Safety Case Strategies and safety assurance guidance.
• Represent the organisation at design reviews and project meetings, advising on safety and environmental aspects of onshore and offshore support infrastructure.
• Act as a safety subject matter expert during workshops, optioneering reviews, and stakeholder sessions.
• Review Safety Case documentation against regulatory expectations and relevant good practice.
• Lead and manage a small safety case team and act as a key interface within the wider Joint Programme Team.
• Undertake limited site visits when necessary (e.g., facility walkdowns).

The position is expected to follow a hybrid working pattern based in Glasgow City Centre (typically three days in the office, two days remote).

Person Specification for the Safety Case Manager

Essential Experience

• Proven experience developing safety assurance strategies for complex engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in safety case delivery or assessment within a nuclear environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement experience across the full safety case lifecycle.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within a defence-related safety assurance environment.
• Familiarity with claims/arguments/evidence-based approaches to Safety Functional Requirements.
• Experience delivering safety cases associated with naval or nuclear propulsion programmes.
