We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to support the delivery of complex projects within the nuclear and defence environment. The role is working on a long term contract based in Glasgow / Hybrid.
Duties for the Planner role:
- The Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and reporting integrated project programmes, working closely with the Project Team and external suppliers to ensure schedule integrity across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- The role requires a high level of professionalism, strong planning expertise, and the ability to operate effectively within a secure, client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
- Work proactively with the Project Team to develop programmes using own initiative.
- Plan and manage schedules across all stages of the project lifecycle, from early design through to delivery and close-out.
- Perform monthly programme updates, progress analysis, and reporting.
- Review, assess, and challenge supplier schedules on a monthly basis to ensure alignment with the integrated programme.
- Support risk and opportunity management activities, ensuring appropriate schedule mitigation and contingency planning.
- Provide clear, accurate, and professional schedule information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Operate effectively within a client environment, maintaining strong working relationships.
- Demonstrate sound commercial awareness when developing and managing project programmes.
Essential Skills and Experience for the Planning Engineer:
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Proven ability to work independently and develop programmes in collaboration with the Project Team.
- Experience planning across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Experience in monthly programme updating and reporting.
- Experience in the monthly review and assessment of supplier schedules.
- Good understanding of risk and opportunity management in relation to planning and programming.
- Experience of working in a client-facing environment.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to gain and maintain Security Clearance.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience working within an operational environment.
- Experience working in a secure environment.
- Construction and/or implementation experience.
- Ideally 4–5 years’ relevant planning experience.
- Experience managing schedules on NEC contracts.
- Experience working on projects with integrated programmes.
