We are looking for a SHE Advisor to work on a permanent basis in Chorley/Hybrid. The role is working Monday to Thursday - 2 days' in the office, 2 days' from home. Salary is c£50-55,000 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, pension, healthcare etc.

Duties for the SHE Advisor:

  • Provide practical Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) support across the business, ensuring compliance with legislation, company procedures and management systems.
  • Support the development of a positive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement in SHE performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SHE Compliance & Risk Management: Provide SHE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and employees. Support compliance with relevant legislation, standards and management systems. Assist with risk assessments and ensure effective control measures are implemented. Monitor activities, identify hazards and intervene where standards are not met. Support engineering, project and operational teams to manage SHE risks effectively.
  • Incident Investigation & Improvement: Lead or support investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and environmental events. Identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented and completed. Monitor trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operational Support: Carry out workplace inspections, audits and observations. Support contractor management, inductions and site activities. Promote safe working practices, good housekeeping and environmental awareness. Build positive working relationships with employees, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Training & Culture: Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and SHE communications. Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage workforce engagement. Participate in safety meetings and support the completion of agreed actions.
  • Systems & Reporting: Maintain SHE records, reports and action trackers. Support the review and improvement of SHE procedures and processes. Contribute to SHE performance reporting and business improvement activities.

Person Specification for the SHE Advisor:

  • Essential Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety. Tech IOSH membership (or working towards).
  • Desirable Qualifications: NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 5 qualification). IEMA environmental qualification or membership. Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Graduate or Chartered IOSH membership.
  • Essential Experience: Experience within manufacturing, engineering or project-based environments. Practical application of SHE principles in operational settings. Experience supporting teams in the management of SHE risks. Strong IT skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Desirable Experience: Experience within regulated industries such as nuclear, defence or construction. Experience supporting engineering, design or modification activities. Knowledge of CDM Regulations. Experience working within ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Essential Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Ability to interpret and apply SHE requirements in operational environments. Experience reviewing and supporting risk assessments. Ability to deliver training, briefings and presentations.
