The predicted salary is between 50 - 54 £ per hour.
We are looking for a Senior Stress Engineer to work on a long term contract in Chorley/Hybrid. The role is working a 4 day working week - Monday to Thursday (2 days' in the office, 2 days' from home). Rate is c£50-54 Ltd per hour (Outside IR35).
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and checking engineering calculations and analysis reports, supporting the design and substantiation of complex mechanical equipment. You will work closely with design teams, project engineers and customers to ensure technical requirements are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and review stress analysis calculations and technical reports
- Carry out finite element analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations
- Identify calculation requirements including code compliance, operational requirements and failure modes
- Support mechanical design teams with technical guidance, design improvements and material/section selection
- Review and validate calculations completed by other engineers
- Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding technical requirements
- Develop improved calculation methods and engineering processes
- Mentor and support other engineers within the team
Skills & Experience Required:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience in stress analysis
- Strong knowledge of FEA and classical stress analysis techniques
- Experience with ANSYS and Mathcad
- Knowledge of relevant design standards including: BS 2573, BS EN 13001, Structural Eurocodes
- Ability to produce detailed technical reports
- Experience working on complex mechanical or structural engineering projects
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
- Knowledge of BS EN 1090
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor
- Nuclear sector experience
- Seismic analysis experience
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring engineers
Additional Requirements:
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage priorities
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
