We are looking for a Principal EC&I Engineer to work on a long term contract in Chorley. The role is working Monday to Thursday - 2 days in the office, 2 days from home. Rate is c£60-63 Ltd per hour (outside IR35, or Umbrella/PAYE equivalent).
Duties for the Principal EC&I Engineer:
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design activities, providing technical guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with project and engineering management teams to support the successful delivery of engineering solutions while maintaining compliance with industry standards, legislation, and best practice.
- Lead and supervise engineering design teams, providing technical direction and support.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor engineering activities against project scope, budget and programme.
- Support project delivery through effective management of technical risks, change control and design reviews.
- Develop and review design documentation, specifications and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and engineering best practice, including machinery safety requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments, clients, suppliers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support verification, validation and design assurance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a right-first-time engineering culture.
- Mentor and develop engineers, supporting competence and professional development.
- Provide technical input to bids, proposals and tender submissions.
Requirements for the Principal EC&I Engineer:
- Degree qualified in EC&I Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professionally registered Engineer (or working towards registration).
- Proven experience leading engineering design teams within a regulated engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes, safety requirements and compliance standards.
- Experience managing technical deliverables, project schedules and engineering resources.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of machinery safety regulations, including LOLER, PUWER and CDM, would be advantageous.
