We are looking for a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer to work on a permanent basis in Southampton. The role will be covering from Midlands to South areas. Salary is c£35-45,000 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, pension, overtime, healthcare etc.
Role
You will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems installed within mobile medical units. The role involves nationwide travel across healthcare sites, ensuring systems remain fully operational and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on:
- Split air conditioning systems
- Cold water chiller systems
- Air handling units (AHUs)
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections on mobile medical units
- Diagnose and repair refrigeration and HVAC faults efficiently to minimise downtime
- Carry out leak detection, refrigerant handling and refrigeration system repairs
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals
- Complete service reports and compliance documentation accurately
- Travel to NHS and private healthcare facilities across the South of England
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call rota for breakdown support
- Assist with installations, commissioning and upgrade projects where required
- Maintain company tools, testing equipment and company vehicle
- Carry out additional engineering duties within your competency level
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have previous experience within refrigeration and HVAC service engineering and be comfortable working independently in the field. Essential skills and experience include:
- Proven refrigeration and HVAC maintenance and fault-finding experience
- Experience working with:
- Split AC systems
- Chillers
- AHUs
- F-Gas Category 1 certification
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent
- Strong understanding of refrigeration components and diagnostics
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to travel across the South of England
Desirable:
- Field service/mobile engineer experience
- City & Guilds qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
- Experience within healthcare or commercial environments
