Assessment & Recovery Officer
Location: Wolverhampton
Pay Rate: £24.00 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Temporary (3 Months)
City of Wolverhampton Council is looking for an experienced Assessment & Recovery Officer to join its Revenues & Benefits team.
Essential Experience
- Council Tax
- Business Rates
- Housing Benefit / Council Tax Support
- Revenues & Benefits Administration
- Debt Recovery / Collections
- Financial Assessment and Decision Making
Main Duties
- Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims
- Administer Council Tax and Business Rates accounts
- Recover outstanding debts
- Negotiate repayment arrangements
- Handle customer enquiries by phone, email and face-to-face
- Determine appropriate recovery action
- Attend court where required
- Process work accurately and efficiently
Requirements
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good IT and administration skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload
- Professional and customer-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Northgate Revenues & Benefits experience
- Agresso experience
- Local Authority background
