The Role
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the transport operation, working closely with drivers, warehouse teams and customers to deliver an exceptional service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and allocating daily vehicle routes.
- Monitoring live transport movements and responding to delays or operational issues.
- Liaising with drivers, customers and warehouse teams to ensure smooth communication.
- Ensuring compliance with Driver Hours regulations, Working Time Directive (WTD) and transport legislation.
- Updating transport management systems and maintaining accurate planning records.
- Managing vehicle utilisation to maximise efficiency.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the transport department.
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of a busy transport office.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Transport Coordinator or within a busy logistics operation.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road networks and geographical planning.
- A good understanding of Driver Hours legislation and the Working Time Directive.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and transport management systems.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions.
- A flexible approach and willingness to work a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, including weekends.
