Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Glass CNC Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will have previous experience operating CNC machinery within a glass processing or similar manufacturing environment and will be confident working independently to produce high-quality finished products to specification.
The role involves setting and operating CNC glass processing machinery, interpreting technical drawings and job specifications, carrying out quality checks and ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machinery used for the processing of glass.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, job sheets and production specifications.
- Accurately input, check and amend CNC programmes where required.
- Load and position glass safely and correctly on the CNC machine.
- Carry out a range of CNC glass processing operations, including drilling, cutting, shaping, routing, polishing and other processes as required.
- Select and use the correct tooling, settings and programmes for each job.
- Monitor machine performance and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Carry out regular quality inspections and dimensional checks throughout the production process.
- Identify defects, inaccuracies or machine issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Work efficiently to meet daily production schedules and targets.
- Minimise material waste and maximise machine efficiency.
- Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning and basic maintenance as required.
- Report any machine faults, breakdowns or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Work closely with colleagues, supervisors and other departments to ensure production runs smoothly.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records where required.
- Follow all company procedures relating to health and safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area at all times.
- Support other areas of the production operation when required.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience working with glass or glass processing machinery.
- Good understanding of CNC machine operation and set-up.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and production specifications.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently to production deadlines.
- Good understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative when resolving production issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, organised and committed to maintaining high standards.
Desirable:
- Experience with CNC software/programming.
- Experience with CNC glass processing centres and associated machinery.
- Experience with drilling, polishing, shaping and routing glass.
- Experience using measuring equipment and carrying out dimensional checks.
- Previous experience within a double-glazing, architectural glass or glass manufacturing environment.
