Due to an influx of work, we're looking for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our busy client based in Smethwick on a temporary ongoing contract. Our client specialise in architectural steel — staircases and canopies — alongside structural steel fabrication. This is hands-on workshop work with quality at the centre.
What you'll be doing:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings for staircases, canopies and structural components
- Prep, measure, cut and grind materials to spec
- Tack and run welds to a high standard
- Check work against drawings and ensure dimensional accuracy
- MIG welding on architectural jobs where finish matters
- Work safely and keep your area tidy
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Fabricator/Welder in structural or architectural steel
- Able to read technical drawings confidently
- Strong MIG and TIG welding skills
- Good with hand tools, grinders, and workshop machinery
- Eye for detail and quality finish on architectural work
- Coded, Class 2 for structural work ideally — but not essential if you can prove experience
- Reliable, team player, and happy to get stuck in
