We are looking for a temporary, full time Qualified Teacher of Chemistry to join a reputable Grammar school in Maidstone, Kent, from 1st September. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering engaging Chemistry lessons and supporting students to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will primarily teach Chemistry, with some Biology, across the school's timetable. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress and providing effective feedback through marking. This is a temporary full time role, 5 days per week, Monday to Friday during term time. You will be expected to start on 1st September until 23rd October, with the opportunity to extend further.
Salary: £39,000 - £58,000, depending on experience.
About You:
- Previous secondary Chemistry/Biology teaching experience - essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum
- Confident in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
- A strong passion for inspiring students and developing their interest in Science
- Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the confidence to manage challenging behaviour effectively while maintaining positive relationships with students
- Committed to supporting student's academic progress and well-being
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in Chemistry and some Biology
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs and abilities of individual learners
- Assess and mark student's work, providing constructive feedback to support progress
- Monitor student attainment and identify areas for further development
- Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school expectations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student's academic progress and well-being
- Contribute positively to the wider school community and maintain high professional standards
