Are you committed to helping young people who face emotional, behavioural, and social challenges? Simply Education is working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) unit in the Stoke-on-Trent area, and we are looking for a dedicated Youth Offending Support Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will provide support to students at risk of engaging in antisocial behaviour or offending, helping them make positive changes. You will collaborate with a passionate team committed to assisting students through rehabilitation, helping them overcome difficulties, and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Responsibilities

  • Support and Mentorship: Engage with students in a SEMH provision, supporting those at risk of offending or who have been involved in antisocial behaviour. Help them explore the underlying reasons for their actions and guide them in making better life choices.
  • Emotional and Behavioural Support: Assist students struggling with emotional regulation and challenging behaviours. Work with them to understand the impact of their actions and teach them healthier ways of coping.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with teachers, youth workers, and mental health professionals to develop tailored strategies to address each student's unique needs. Focus on rehabilitation, personal growth, and meeting specific SEMH requirements.
  • Positive Environment: Help to create and maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment where students feel encouraged to engage in learning and tackle personal challenges.
  • Encouraging Development: Support students in acquiring essential life skills, such as conflict resolution, anger management, and self-control, to help them break free from negative behaviour and focus on setting future goals.
