Simply Education is proud to be working in partnership with a brand-new SEMH secondary school in Uttoxeter, opening in April, to recruit a Science Teacher. This role involves teaching Science at GCSE and Functional Skills level to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, within a supportive and structured environment designed to help students re-engage with learning.
About the role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Science lessons at GCSE and Functional Skills level. Teaching will be adapted to meet a range of emotional and behavioural needs, with a strong focus on building positive, consistent relationships with pupils. You will work closely with SEND and pastoral teams to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
What we are looking for
- Applicants must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have experience teaching Science at secondary level.
- You should be confident working with pupils with SEMH or SEND needs and have a calm, consistent approach to behaviour management.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is required, along with satisfactory professional references.
