Simply Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Middlewich to recruit a passionate, resilient, and engaging Sports Coach to support children and young people within a nurturing and therapeutic educational setting. This is not your average coaching role; this is an opportunity to use sport, relationships, and encouragement to help young people rebuild confidence, develop self-belief, and rediscover success. The school is built around the belief that every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and valued. With a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, restorative practice, and positive relationships, the setting supports students who may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education to re-engage with learning and achieve their potential.

As a Sports Coach, you will become a trusted adult and positive role model, helping students channel emotions positively, experience achievement, and develop resilience both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

You will work closely with students throughout the school day, delivering engaging sports sessions and supporting pupils on both a 1:1 basis and within small groups. Sport is used as a powerful tool to promote teamwork, communication, emotional regulation, and confidence. You will play a key role in helping students feel motivated, connected, and successful within school life. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, offering the chance to secure a long-term role within a highly supportive and rewarding school environment. The role is also ideal for aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience within an SEMH setting, with opportunities for ongoing training, development, and progression into teaching and pastoral careers.

No two days are ever the same but every day offers the chance to genuinely change a young person's future.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Delivering engaging sports and physical activities
  • Building positive, trusting, and consistent relationships with students
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional SEND needs
  • Encouraging resilience, teamwork, and self-confidence
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams
  • Helping create a calm, safe, and inclusive environment
  • Motivating students to engage positively in education and personal development

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Has experience in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, care, or education
  • Understands the importance of patience, consistency, and empathy
  • Can remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
  • Brings positivity, energy, and enthusiasm to every day
  • Believes in building relationships before results
  • Wants to make a meaningful and lasting impact on young people's lives
  • May be considering a future career in teaching, SEND, or pastoral support

Why Join This School?

  • Opportunity to secure a permanent position
  • Pathways into teacher training and long-term career progression
  • Ongoing CPD, mentoring, and professional development opportunities
  • Be part of a nurturing and supportive team
  • Work within a school that prioritises wellbeing and relationships
  • Gain invaluable SEMH and SEND experience
  • Develop behaviour management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Make a genuine difference every single day
  • Build experience highly valued across education, pastoral care, psychology, and youth support sectors

Success within this school is measured not just by academic progress, but by confidence restored, trust rebuilt, and futures transformed. If you are ready to inspire young people through sport, encouragement, and positive relationships, we would love to hear from you.
