Salary: £22,996 - £25,068 (£12.87 - £14.03 per hour), dependent on experience and qualifications, plus £1,500 welcome bonus

Position: Permanent, Full-Time, Term Time Only

Simply Education is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting supporting young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career working with children and young people. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is not essential - what matters most is your attitude, patience and genuine desire to make a positive difference.

You will be joining a supportive specialist environment where young people are encouraged to build confidence, develop independence and achieve their potential both academically and personally.

Your Role as a Trainee Teaching Assistant

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will help pupils engage with their learning, develop positive relationships and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. You'll receive guidance and support as you develop your skills and experience, making this an ideal opportunity if you are looking to take your first step into a career in education or SEND.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting young people with their learning, wellbeing and personal development.
  • Working alongside the Class Teacher to support lessons and classroom activities.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive behaviour.
  • Helping to create a safe, caring and engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each young person.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Completing relevant records and documentation under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
  • Supporting the wider day-to-day running of the school when required.
