Our welcoming three-form entry primary school in the heart of Romford is looking to appoint a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team from September 2026. Pay: £95 - £100 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will work closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn.

You will support pupils with a range of abilities, including children who may require additional support with communication, social development or emotional regulation, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative EYFS lessons and activities.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Encourage children's independence, confidence and social development through play-based learning.
  • Assist with phonics, reading, writing and number activities.
  • Help prepare and organise classroom resources and engaging learning environments.
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
  • Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage excellent learning habits.
  • Supervise pupils during indoor and outdoor learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Support with personal care where required, including toileting, changing accidents and encouraging independence while maintaining children's dignity and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children within an Early Years setting is desirable.
  • A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
  • A passion for education and training and supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of the EYFS Framework is advantageous.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to school life.
