We are supporting our inclusive and dynamic special educational needs schools across Northamptonshire to recruit for experienced Cover Supervisors and Higher Level Teaching Assistants. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning, delivering high-quality lessons in the absence of teachers, and helping students develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive.
What you’ll do:
- Supervise and lead classes in the absence of teaching staff, following detailed lesson plans
- Work closely with individuals and small groups, including students with SEN or additional learning needs
- Ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment where all pupils can flourish
- Support the development of students' independence, life skills, and confidence
- Provide feedback to teachers on lesson outcomes, pupil engagement, and behaviour
We are looking for candidates who:
- Have previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, or UK teaching experience in secondary or SEN settings
- Understand the unique needs of students with special educational needs and can adapt approaches accordingly
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, staff, and parents
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a wider school team
