SEN Science Lead - Permanent
Location: Mansfield
Salary: £32,916 - £45,352 + £2,000 Expert Payment
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only | 40 hours per week
Simply Education are excited to be working with a specialist education provider who are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Science Lead to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Science Teacher who is passionate about supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream education. You will play a key role in shaping the Science curriculum, improving outcomes and inspiring learners through personalised, engaging and inclusive teaching.
Working with young people aged 7-19, you will deliver high-quality Science teaching through a range of approaches including one-to-one sessions, small group learning and vocational settings. Alongside classroom teaching, you will have dedicated leadership time to support curriculum development, quality assurance, coaching and improving teaching practice across the organisation.
The Role
- Lead and develop the Science curriculum across multiple specialist education settings.
- Deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to individual learner needs.
- Support colleagues through coaching, CPD and sharing best practice.
- Work alongside school leaders to monitor progress and improve outcomes.
- Use assessment and intervention strategies to support learner achievement.
- Build positive relationships with students, helping them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and learner wellbeing remain at the centre of practice.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching Science within a specialist, SEND or alternative education setting (desirable).
- Strong subject knowledge and experience developing Science curriculum content.
- A passion for supporting young people with additional needs and barriers to learning.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
