We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish for a long-term agency placement at a high-performing secondary school based in Lewisham, starting after February half term and continuing until the end of the academic year.
The school is part of a well-established and highly regarded trust in South East London and is known for its ambitious academic culture, strong behaviour systems, and inclusive ethos. Following a recent inspection, the school was praised for its high expectations, excellent outcomes for pupils of all backgrounds, and the calm, purposeful learning environment created by staff.
You will be joining a strong and well-resourced Modern Foreign Languages department, teaching Spanish across Key Stages 3 and 4. There may be opportunities to teach an additional language (French or German), depending on experience. The department places a strong emphasis on consistency, subject knowledge, and supporting pupils to develop confidence and fluency in languages.
Key responsibilities:
- Teaching Spanish across KS3 and KS4
- Planning and delivering structured lessons in line with schemes of work and exam specifications
- Assessing pupil progress and providing clear, timely feedback
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Contributing positively to departmental collaboration and wider school life
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification)
- A current enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, with a clear commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Recent experience teaching Spanish in a UK secondary school
Pay: In line with the Teachers' Pay Scale (via agency)
Contract: Fixed-term / long-term agency contract (after February half term to end of academic year)
Location: Lewisham, South East London
