We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a long-term agency placement at a high-aspiring secondary school based in Southwark (SE1), starting after February half term and continuing until the end of the academic year.
The school is part of a well-established and highly regarded multi-academy trust in South East London and is known for its strong community ethos, high expectations for behaviour and learning, and inclusive approach to education. The school has been praised for its ambitious culture, strong staff support, and commitment to developing both academic scholarship and character.
You will work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, and pastoral teams to support pupils with special educational needs and additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and make expected progress both academically and socially.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting named pupils with SEN in lessons and small group interventions
- Assisting class teachers with differentiation and lesson support
- Promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and inclusion in line with school policy
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pupil progress reviews
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or SEN setting
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, with a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people
- A current enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
- Relevant qualifications or SEN experience are desirable but not essential
Pay: In line with the Trust support staff scale / agency rate
Contract: Fixed-term / long-term agency contract (after February half term to end of academic year)
Location: Southwark, SE1
