Overview
Teacher of Design & Art (Maternity Cover) - Southwark
Location: Southwark, South East London; Start: March 2026 (or after February half term); Duration: Maternity cover – until the end of the academic year; Hours: Full-time; Contract: Agency; Pay: Competitive daily rate (MPS equivalent).
Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a creative and forward-thinking Design & Art department within a supportive and ambitious school community.
Responsibilities
- Teaching Design & Art across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience desirable)
- Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons
- Assessing, marking and tracking student progress in line with school policies
- Contributing to a creative, interdisciplinary curriculum
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and learning
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Design & Art in a secondary school setting
- Confidence delivering GCSE content (A Level experience desirable)
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
