We insure small businesses and enable big dreams – not just for our customers, but for our people and communities too. With over 1,000,000 active insurance policies, we protect builders, bakers, landlords and more than 1,200 other trades. We’re a technology company as well as one that sells insurance. Through our global social impact strategy, called The Big Dreams Project, we’re working to help 10,000 small businesses start or grow by 2030.
At Simply Business, we do our homework and share our expertise to champion the small business cause. We’re looking for a detail-oriented HR Analyst to act as the vital bridge between human resources and data science, transforming raw data into a narrative that helps our leadership make informed decisions. Your work will directly influence our hiring efficiency, retention programs, and overall employee experience. By providing actionable insights on turnover, compensation, and engagement, you’ll help us maintain the honest, inclusive, and reliable culture we’re known for.
Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:
- Build and maintain automated dashboards using BI tools to provide senior management with refreshing, upfront insights into our people data.
- Translate "people problems" into "data questions," cleaning data from HRIS, payroll, and surveys to create a single source of truth.
- Track and report on key talent metrics like Time-to-Fill and Cost-per-Hire to help us constantly improve our recruitment journey.
- Conduct market benchmarking and internal equity audits to ensure our compensation remains competitive, fair, and supportive.
- Identify bottlenecks in the employee lifecycle and recommend data-backed improvements to remove complexity and streamline processes.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance, keeping our information secure and in line with all local employment laws and GDPR.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:
- An expert in data manipulation, with advanced skills in tools like Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables) or Google Sheets.
- Experienced with HRIS and ATS platforms—you’ve spent significant time navigating systems like Workday, ADP, or BambooHR.
- Proficient in BI tools, specifically Looker or Power BI, to turn complex numbers into simple, relatable visual stories.
- A strong communicator who can explain the "why" behind the numbers to non-technical stakeholders in plain English.
- Analytical and pioneering, not afraid to challenge the status quo by using data to suggest better ways of working.
- Qualified and curious, likely holding a degree in a relevant field (like Stats, HR, or Business) and perhaps even some SQL or Python knowledge.
We know it’s tough, but please try to avoid the confidence gap. You don’t have to match all the bullet points above to be considered for this role. We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive place for you to be you and do your very best work.
