We insure small businesses and enable big dreams – not just for our customers, but for our people and communities too. With over 1,000,000 active insurance policies, we protect builders, bakers, landlords and more than 1,200 other trades. We’re a technology company as well as one that sells insurance. That means we build, we fail, we learn and we improve. Through our global social impact strategy, called 'The Big Dreams Project’, we're working to help 10,000 small businesses start or grow by 2030.

As our Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving operational efficiency and financial precision within our Finance team in London or Northampton. You'll lead our day-to-day Accounts Payable operations, manage month-end routines, and ensure robust financial controls are maintained across the business.

What makes this role different from other finance management positions is its direct impact on both team leadership and operational transformation. You won't just be managing ledgers; you'll actively mentor team members, modernise transactional workflows using tools like SAP ByDesign and SAP Concur, and champion prompt supplier payments that help build trust across the wider small business economy.

As one of our Finance Managers, you’ll:

  • Oversee daily Accounts Payable operations, manage direct reports, and assist with work prioritisation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, expense reports, and regular payment runs.
  • Own month-end processes including posting journals, performing variance analysis, and preparing Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Monitor and update Finance Operations policies while ensuring compliance with Payment Practices reporting.
  • Manage the purchase order process across sub-teams while delivering training to ensure business-wide compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits, manage workbooks to EUC standards, and perform quarterly regression testing.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified or finalist accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with strong double entry bookkeeping and transactional accounting expertise.
  • Proven in completing Balance Sheet Reconciliations, numerical analysis, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Experienced in leading, mentoring, and directing team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident with modern financial platforms like SAP ByDesign and managing expense workflows in SAP Concur.
  • Knowledgeable in corporate finance control frameworks, including Audit and SoX controls, alongside advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Highly organised, adaptable to changing priorities, and skilled at building strong relationships with stakeholders across internal and external teams.

We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive place for you to be you and do your very best work.

By driving financial excellence and maintaining trusted payment practices, you will directly support the small business owners who power our economy, enabling big dreams for small businesses. Apply today.
