At SimplyBiz, we’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance – Technical to provide leadership and oversight for the internal Compliance Helpdesk team. You\’ll supervise, monitor and support the development of the team to deliver technical regulatory compliance support services to our members, ensuring the team operates within its SLAs.

This is a hybrid role where you\’ll be expected to attend the office in Huddersfield for 3 days each week.

What you\’ll be doing:

  1. Effective organisation and prioritisation of the team\’s workflow in order to meet deadlines, taking ownership and accountability for your own area.
  2. Ensure all members of the team have appropriate knowledge and competence to deliver core compliance services to our membership.
  3. Deliver training on regulatory matters to the team and other internal departments.
  4. Maintain and enhance your own technical and regulatory knowledge via CPD.
  5. Promote a culture of cross-department collaboration within the group to ensure information, knowledge and experience is shared across the business.
  6. Coaching and developing the team with the ability to assess training needs.
  7. Setting, measuring and managing performance standards and expectations.
  8. Motivating team members and creating an environment that fosters participation and challenge whilst supporting individual needs.
  9. Reviewing Financial Promotions and Websites for both the membership and white labelled marketing material.
  10. Work with relevant staff across the Group in order to maximise member recruitment, retention and services adoption.
  11. Assist firms with internal notifications to the regulator and other requests.

What you\’ll need:

  1. Significant experience of working within the UK Financial Services industry.
  2. Excellent knowledge of the industry with an understanding of FCA rules and regulation and the Mortgage and Investment advice process.
  3. Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent.
  4. Strong people management skills within a team environment.
  5. Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt to audience and situation appropriately.
  6. Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. High level of IT literacy with good knowledge of MS Office products.
  8. Self-motivated and proactive with a strong drive for results.
  9. Approachable, personable and collaborative.
  10. Flexible, “can-do” approach and comfortable working with changing priorities.
  11. Effectively balances a strong attention to detail with seeing the bigger picture.
  12. Comfortable making and defending decisions within area of expertise.
