What You'll Be Doing

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Test Lead to join the newly created test function within Simplify’s IT Development Team. You will need comprehensive knowledge of the software testing lifecycle and how it aligns to the development lifecycle and various project management methodologies such as agile and waterfall. The role will include a variety of testing activities across different business areas and respective applications, including engaging the business in UAT. It will also support the Test Manager in managing resources and deliverables on assigned tasks/projects as well as general training and mentoring to less experienced team members. The role has scope to develop a Test Automation framework, so experience in this area would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the project team at various stages of the project including Simplify India
  • Involvement in test delivery from project initiation through to successful completion of warranty
  • Allocated project deadlines are met, with ability to think outside the box to overcome obstacles
  • Contribute effectively towards the process of test planning and preparation on allocated projects; including tasks if and when required such as estimation, environment and data setup/provision, and produce/or feed into the Test Plan Document
  • Identification of test requirements, risks, mitigation and approach to test coverage based on project methodology, documentation, resource and timescales
  • Planning and co-ordinating testing activities, including UAT and execution of these plans on assigned projects
  • Production of high quality test scripts, ensuring test traceability to the test basis(s) and adding test references to the traceability matrix
  • Efficient execution of test cases on allocated projects ensuring all testing outcomes and outputs recorded accurately and maintained in accordance with ISTQB/Simplify standards and pass QA/Audit checks; including scripts, diagrams, test results, report outputs and screen prints etc.
  • Provide accurate and timely testing updates/reports and participate in update meetings; communicating progress of testing resource/tasks assigned at agreed intervals and prompt identification and escalation of risks and issues to the Test Manager
  • Defect management of allocated projects, taking ownership from identification and logging through to closure, providing updates to the Test Manager, escalating any risks, issues or blockages
  • Proactively support the Test Manager as required in daily activities/assigned projects - deputising if and when required
  • Presenting findings to the project team and providing objective feedback
  • Assisting the Test Manager in building, sharing and retaining critical in-depth knowledge of systems, processes and industry standards within the team
  • Proactively support/mentor Test Analysts in daily activities and assigned tasks
  • Completing peer reviews/QA checks as agreed with the Test Manager
  • Contribute towards maintaining and improving quality assurance
  • Participate in implementation and post implementation testing tasks and project retros
  • Feed into viability of Test automation with a scope to implement, manage and maintain

Core Requirements

  • ISEB/ISTQB Certified
  • You have strong self-management skills with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent working knowledge of industry standard test techniques and methodologies
  • You have practical experience in the planning, monitoring and control of test activities and tasks
  • You have experience of resource management such as allocation, training and motivating
  • You have experience of leading testing assignments providing support and assistance to team members
  • You are experienced in defect management
  • Experience of working on large scale projects or a number of smaller projects concurrently
  • Excellent working knowledge of SQL

Whilst not essential, we are especially keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: automation, technical programming languages, coding approaches and their benefits/limitations, Microsoft Project usage, UAT, and performance and stress testing.
