What You'll Be Doing
Reporting into the Change & Portfolio Director, the Delivery Manager will support the strategic development of change plans and lead the end‑to‑end delivery of key initiatives across the organisation. Responsible for taking a leading role in digital enabled and operational change, ensuring it is delivered effectively, on time, and with measurable business outcomes. The Delivery Manager will act as the bridge between the technical function and critical areas of the operational business, facilitating strong partnerships, aligning priorities, and ensuring business change is embedded sustainably. This role requires strategic oversight, hands‑on delivery leadership, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders whilst driving clarity, pace, and operational adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery Leadership
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex transformation programmes and projects.
- Manage cross‑functional delivery squads, ensuring clear responsibilities and alignment with organisational priorities.
- Drive delivery discipline using Agile, hybrid, or traditional methodologies as appropriate.
- Proactively identify and resolve delivery risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating when required.
- Transformation Strategy & Change Enablement
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable delivery roadmaps.
- Ensure solutions are designed with clear business value and operational readiness in mind.
- Work with process owners, SMEs, and operational leaders to design and implement impactful solutions with well thought through operational readiness.
- Monitor and measure outcomes post‑implementation, ensuring long‑term benefits are realised.
- Governance, Planning & Budget Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, commercial agreements, and resource plans.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation including delivery plans, RAID logs, decision logs, and status reporting.
- Support governance forums and contribute to portfolio‑level prioritisation and planning.
- Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead and motivate multi‑disciplinary delivery teams to achieve shared goals.
- Provide coaching, structure, and clarity to ensure effective collaboration.
- Champion continuous improvement, learning, and best practice across the delivery community.
- Potential line management and mentoring of more junior project personnel.
Core Requirements
- Proven experience delivering medium-large scale transformation programmes.
- Strong track record of partnering with operational business areas to drive change and embed new ways of working.
- Demonstrable ability to manage budgets, risks, dependencies, and third parties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to turn around challenges quickly and effectively.
- Solid understanding of technology delivery (software, infrastructure, platforms, or data).
- Excellent communication and storytelling capability—able to translate complex information into clear business language.
- Familiarity with project management and Agile tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, MS Project).
- Experience working in Agile and hybrid delivery models.
