Fabric Print & TextileDesigner – Full Time
Availability: ASAP
An experienced Fabric Print & Textile designer to work as part of our Design Team in London studio. You will be working closely with the design team on developing seasonal prints, fabrics and textiles for both WW and MW collection. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the luxury or premium fashion sector.
Role Overview
Lead design and development for each collection based on seasonal directions from creative director
Generate initial research/ideas at the beginning of each season and swatchings – both digital and hand-textiles
Confident working on placements/patterns/colourways/motif digitally, as well as physical textile swatches
Creating precise launch pack for strike offs and provide accurate references for factories and suppliers during development stage
Working directly with suppliers/factories to ensure all delivery dates and target costs are met
Liaise with sample room to ensure all sampling fabrics, trims or any textiles are ordered in time for show
Resolving any technical and costing issues, make sure changes can be made to artwork to achieve target price points
Ensure all accurate information is passed onto production team
Sourcing materials with attention to minimums, lead time, and prices
Technical
CAD literate; skilled in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office suite
Experienced in creating, reworking, recolouring and digitizing print and textile artworks
Sensitivity to fabrication and colour as part of the design process
Ensure all new prints and textiles are developed to an agreed quality standard, considering price strategy
Manage and follow a critical path timeline
Provide detailed specs and modifications for factory and client communication
Understanding of the collection development process, including setting up technical documentation
Embrace the full design and development cycle, understanding its impact on sales and global market delivery
Work with pattern cutters for consumption and placements
Work on consumptions for pre-production order on all materials
Administrative
Liaise with overseas suppliers, manage fabrics, trims, and purchase sampling orders
Previous experience working with cross‐functional teams
Excellent organisation, time management, and presentation skills
In-depth technical understanding of fabric processes, including prints and embroidery
Knowledge of European/Overseas material suppliers and mills, and experience in maintaining supplier relationships
Attend design, merchandising, and production meetings as required
Support with design and development admin, including email communication
Ensure timely sample preparation
Experience working with a structured design/product development calendar
Interpersonal
Collaborate with the wider design team throughout the collection development process
Work closely with factories and suppliers, including written communication and on‐site visits when needed
Coordinate with production teams on all manufacturer/supplier communication
Open to travel – both local and international – as required
Strong awareness of the fashion and lifestyle marketplace
