The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster UK is looking for a Digital-First Marketing Director to join their new digital-first imprint.
Reporting to the Group Digital Transformation and Innovation Director, this leadership role is a unique opportunity to be part of a team building an innovative, commercial imprint from the ground up, leading the way in mobile and serial publishing.
The Job Role
The successful applicant will set the marketing strategy for Simon and Schuster’s new digital-first division, establishing and scaling new imprints and driving audience growth.
They will lead a small team to design and deliver ambitious, data-led campaigns for ebooks and audio across multiple markets. Working closely with publicity and corporate communications, they will oversee the brand and audience strategy and build connections with author and reader communities. They will translate data insights and market knowledge into measurable marketing initiatives that drive growth and sales performance.
The Candidate P rofile
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in book marketing at a senior level, with evidence of growing authors and creating new brands. Strategic and results-driven with a reader-focused approach, they will be ready to make an impact in a fast-paced marketplace.
A deep understanding of the market for commercial fiction and the trends and opportunities across ebook and audio is essential, as is an understanding of online book communities including the independent author community and digital platforms including Meta, Amazon, Google, TikTok and Spotify. They will be data-driven and happy to get involved in the entire chain from D2C offerings and CRM to partnerships and social media.
They will have expertise in growing audiences, whilst keeping within budget. They will be on top of industry developments, plugged into consumer trends and ready to experiment and innovate beyond them
Their infectious enthusiasm for new formats, creator culture, fan communities, and innovative storytelling tools will allow them to be an evangelist within the business and industry for the content and for digital reading and listening.
A creative, entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude as well as a passion for inclusive storytelling, popular fiction and digital culture is essential.
