The Publishing Assistant provides full administrative and operational support across all Children’s imprints, ensuring title readiness according to our critical path, and performing key operational duties that support the smooth running of the Children’s publishing programme. This is a varied and data driven operational role that sits at the heart of the Children’s Division and requires collaboration with departments across the business.
The role will support the smooth running of the Children’s publishing programme by carrying out key operational duties and acting as a central point of contact for the title management system, title data, and metadata feeds across all Children’s imprints and backlist. Responsibilities include:
- Updating title schedules and Publishing Programmes on TMM
- Communicating changes to the business
- Assisting with scheduling and minuting meetings
- Monitoring new acquisitions and title metadata against critical path deadlines
- Managing Children’s audio operational tasks
- Supporting invoice processing and wider administrative needs
- Assisting with the adoption of new processes through the updating of internal materials and training documentation
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and the capacity to work to deadlines both independently and as part of a team. They will demonstrate strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with a proactive, solution-focused approach, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for books and reading. Some experience in an office or administrative environment is desirable, along with familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
