Overview

Simon Lincoln Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for a Temporary Maintenance Operative to support a busy student accommodation site based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with previous maintenance, caretaking or facilities experience who is confident working independently across a live residential environment. The successful candidate will support the preparation, upkeep and presentation of the site during a busy operational period.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Painting and decorating duties across bedrooms and communal areas
  • Installing blinds and completing basic fittings
  • Assembling furniture and carrying out room set ups
  • Moving mattresses and supporting room turnaround tasks
  • Replacing hinges and completing minor repairs
  • Gardening, outdoor maintenance and weeding
  • Jet washing external areas to maintain presentation standards
  • Applying and replacing shower silicone where required
  • Supporting general building upkeep and maintenance tasks across the site
  • Reporting any larger maintenance issues to site management

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within maintenance, caretaking or facilities
  • Confident using basic hand tools and carrying out practical maintenance tasks
  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high site standards
  • Reliable with a proactive and hands-on approach
  • Experience within PBSA, residential or hospitality environments would be beneficial
