Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) property in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused leader with experience in student accommodation, Build to Rent, hospitality, retail or property management to take ownership of a busy site, ensuring an outstanding resident experience whilst delivering strong operational and commercial performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the property, leading the onsite team, maintaining exceptional standards and ensuring full compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the student accommodation property.
- Lead, motivate and develop the onsite team.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience for all residents.
- Maximise occupancy levels and support the leasing process.
- Manage site budgets and financial performance.
- Monitor rent collection and debtor management.
- Ensure the property is maintained to the highest standards.
- Manage maintenance contractors and supplier relationships.
- Ensure full Health & Safety compliance across the property.
- Carry out regular property inspections and audits.
- Resolve resident queries and complaints professionally.
- Build relationships with local universities and external partners.
- Plan and deliver engaging resident events throughout the year.
- Produce operational and performance reports.
- Recruit, train and develop team members.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a General Manager, Residence Manager or Property Manager.
- Experience within PBSA, Build to Rent, hospitality, hotels, retail or residential property.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and KPIs.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Confident problem solver with a proactive approach.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance.
- Flexible approach to working during busy operational periods.
