Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hands‑on Maintenance Operative to join a busy student accommodation site in Exeter. This is a temporary role offering an immediate start through to mid/end August, supporting the smooth operation, presentation and maintenance of the property during a busy summer period.
The successful candidate will help ensure the building remains safe, well‑maintained and ready to provide an excellent experience for residents and visitors.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks across the property
- Complete planned and reactive maintenance work in a timely manner
- Undertake basic plumbing, painting, decorating and handyman duties
- Support room inspections and summer turnaround activities
- Report maintenance issues and ensure accurate records are maintained
- Assist with health and safety checks and compliance tasks
- Ensure communal areas, facilities and external areas remain well presented
- Work closely with the onsite team to maintain high standards throughout the building
- Liaise with contractors where required
- Support site operations during busy arrival and departure periods
Skills & Experience
- Previous maintenance, facilities or property maintenance experience
- Good practical skills and ability to carry out a range of basic repairs
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a residential or accommodation environment would be advantageous
- Reliable, organised and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
