Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Operative to join a busy student accommodation site in Exeter. This is a temporary role offering an immediate start through to mid/end August, supporting the smooth operation, presentation and maintenance of the property during a busy summer period. The successful candidate will help ensure the building remains safe, well-maintained and ready to provide an excellent experience for residents and visitors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks across the property
  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance work in a timely manner
  • Undertake basic plumbing, painting, decorating and handyman duties
  • Support room inspections and summer turnaround activities
  • Report maintenance issues and ensure accurate records are maintained
  • Assist with health and safety checks and compliance tasks
  • Ensure communal areas, facilities and external areas remain well presented
  • Work closely with the onsite team to maintain high standards throughout the building
  • Liaise with contractors where required
  • Support site operations during busy arrival and departure periods

Skills & Experience

  • Previous maintenance, facilities or property maintenance experience
  • Good practical skills and ability to carry out a range of basic repairs
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a residential or accommodation environment would be advantageous
  • Reliable, organised and able to work in a fast-paced environment
