Human Resource Specialist | Summary/Overview | | Supports day-to-day HR operations and provides administrative and programmatic support across key HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records management, benefit coordination, and employee relations. This entry-level role is designed for individuals developing foundational HR knowledge and contributing to a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. | | Responsibilities and Duties: | - Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS systems
- Process personnel transactions including hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation as required
- Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications
- Support job postings and applicant tracking in the ATS
- Facilitate onboarding activities, including new hire paperwork and orientation
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth candidate and new hire experience
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures
- Provide guidance and escalate more complex issues to senior HR staff as needed
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and programs
- Support benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and employee questions
- Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate employee data and timely processing
- Assist with leave of absence tracking and documentation
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping in accordance with legal requirements
- Support HR compliance initiatives, including EEO, I-9, and other regulatory requirements
- Generate standard HR reports and metrics as needed
| | Required Education and Experience | - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 0–2 years of experience in HR or administrative support role
| | Preferred Education and Experience | - Internship or HR-related experience is a plus
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) or progress toward certification
- Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems
- Familiarity with benefits administration and payroll processes
| | Physical Demands | - Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
