Job Profile

Reporting to the HR Director, the HR Business Partner will provide both strategic and operational HR support, partnering closely with key stakeholders while overseeing day-to-day HR activity across their business areas. This is a generalist role within a small, collaborative UK team in a fast‑paced environment, working closely with colleagues in the US HR team.

Job Role

  • The HR Business Partner will deliver a broad range of operational HR activities, acting as the primary HR partner for the Children’s Publishing, Finance and Operations, and Facilities teams.
  • Creating and updating policy and procedures
  • Working on employee relations cases, including performance management processes
  • Leading on recruitment campaigns
  • Assisting in the delivery of compensation and benefits programmes
  • Learning and development
  • HR reporting and insights
  • Working effectively with HR systems contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Responding to day‑to‑day HR queries
  • Contributing to organisational and cultural change, supporting leaders and teams through periods of transition

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be CIPD qualified, with a strong understanding of the HR Business Partnering model and the ability to quickly build credibility in a fixed‑term role. You will bring excellent organisational and communication skills, alongside a sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application. A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, along with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities. You will have strong problem‑solving skills and a client‑focused mindset, with the confidence to support and coach line managers through change. You will handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, demonstrating sound judgement, integrity, and a high level of confidentiality at all times.
