The Events & Publicity Administrator will provide support to the Publicity Director and two other members of the Publicity team and contribute to the smooth-running of the department with a particular focus on the organisation and implementation of external and internal S&S Children’s events. Reporting to the Publicity Director, they will balance in-office PR support and administration for a busy press office spending a minimum of 30% of the time attending events including those that take place outside of core office hours. The role involves accompanying authors and illustrators to local and national events, in a confident and professional manner.
The Events & Publicity Administrator will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Publicity Director and other members of the publicity team, assisting in the organisation and delivery of both internal and external author and corporate events, with regular on-site attendance. The role involves running events across schools, bookshops and festivals, and building strong working relationships with the Marketing and Publicity team, the wider Children’s division, as well as authors and agents. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating travel for touring authors and illustrators
- Supporting PR campaigns as required
- Managing awards administration, including prize submissions and communications
- Writing, proofreading and editing press materials
- Coordinating regular PR mail-outs
- Managing the Children’s Publicity inbox
- Overseeing logistics for brand costumes and related events
Candidate Profile:
- Strong organisational and time management abilities (essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential)
- Flexibility to work outside of core office hours including evenings and weekends is integral to this role
- Enthusiastic individual who is highly-motivated
- A confident and proactive team player with a professional demeanour
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to react quickly, effectively and decisively
- Can convey messages in an impactful, candid and credible manner through a number of different communication channels
Experience (nice to have):
- Previous administration experience in an events environment
- A good understanding of how publicity campaigns are managed is preferred
Salary: Starting from £27,000.
