About the Role:
My client is looking for an experienced Showroom Sales Designer to join their successful merchant showroom operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused sales professional who combines strong customer service and sales skills with technical design expertise.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customers throughout the full showroom sales journey — from initial consultation and site/home measurement through to design, CAD presentation and order completion. You will ideally come from a merchant showroom, kitchen, bathroom, interiors or similar sales environment, with a proven ability to convert customer requirements into commercially successful designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and engage with customers in the showroom, establishing their requirements and budget.
- Develop strong customer relationships and provide a high level of service throughout the sales process.
- Conduct accurate home and site measures, ensuring all relevant dimensions and project requirements are captured.
- Produce professional designs using CAD software, presenting solutions clearly and effectively to customers.
- Prepare quotations and manage projects through to order, ensuring accuracy and commercial viability.
- Work proactively to maximise sales opportunities and achieve showroom sales targets.
- Maintain agreed gross margin expectations across sales.
- Follow up quotations and leads effectively to maximise conversion rates.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure a smooth customer journey.
- Keep up to date with product ranges, specifications and industry trends.
- Ensure showroom standards and displays are maintained to a high standard.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the branch.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is both customer-focused and commercially driven, with the technical ability to take a project from initial concept through to completed order. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in merchant showroom sales or a closely related environment.
- Proven experience of working towards sales and margin targets.
- Confidence conducting home and site surveys/measures.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of the design and CAD process.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong eye for detail and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical design solutions.
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities to maximise sales.
- Excellent organisation and follow-up skills.
- The confidence to negotiate and close sales.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary of circa £35,000, depending on experience.
- +25% OTE opportunity.
- The opportunity to join an established showroom operation with clear commercial objectives.
- A customer-facing role combining sales, design and project management.
- Opportunities to develop your product knowledge, design expertise and commercial skills.
The Ideal Candidate:
This role would suit an experienced showroom sales professional who enjoys combining design, customer interaction and commercial sales. You will be confident working with customers in person, carrying out measurements on site and using CAD to develop designs that meet both customer expectations and commercial requirements.
If you are an ambitious showroom sales professional looking for your next opportunity, we would be pleased to hear from you.
