About the Role
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced and customer-focused Trade Counter Sales Assistant looking to join a busy branch environment. The successful individual will play a key role in supporting daily branch operations, serving customers, processing orders, and providing expert product advice while contributing to overall branch performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve both trade and retail customers at the trade counter
- Process customer orders and enquiries face-to-face and over the phone
- Recommend suitable products and solutions based on customer requirements
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business
- Identify opportunities to maximise sales and support branch growth
- Resolve customer queries and complaints in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain strong product and technical knowledge across plumbing and heating supplies
- Support the branch team with general operational and day-to-day duties
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
Requirements / Skills
- Previous trade counter or plumbing merchant experience essential
- Background within plumbing, builders merchants, or trade environments preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good industry and product knowledge within plumbing and heating supplies
- Basic numeracy skills including addition and subtraction
- Ability to prioritise workload and work independently when required
- Friendly, approachable, and a strong team player
- Willingness to learn, undertake training, and develop within the role
- Full UK driving licence required
Working Hours
Monday to Friday plus alternate Saturday morning
