Company Overview

Our client is a growing bespoke commercial joinery and office fit-out contractor delivering high-quality interior solutions across workplace, commercial, and refurbishment sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong carpentry or commercial joinery background who understands the technical and commercial aspects of office fit-out projects and can produce accurate, competitive, and profitable tenders.

Role Overview

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for bespoke commercial joinery and office fit-out projects. The successful candidate will analyse drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure commercially viable pricing while supporting the business in securing profitable work. The role requires strong technical knowledge of joinery manufacturing, site installation, materials, labour, and subcontractor pricing within the commercial interiors sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scope of works
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial joinery and fit-out projects
  • Carry out material take-offs and labour assessments
  • Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Identify value engineering opportunities where appropriate
  • Produce tender submissions and supporting documentation within deadlines
  • Liaise with clients, designers, project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Attend site visits, surveys, and pre-tender meetings when required
  • Assess project risks and commercial considerations
  • Support handovers to project delivery teams following successful tenders
  • Maintain estimating databases, pricing schedules, and supplier relationships
  • Ensure estimates align with profitability targets and business objectives

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within commercial joinery and/or office fit-out
  • Strong understanding of bespoke joinery manufacturing and installation
  • Carpentry or joinery background preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience pricing commercial interiors, CAT A/CAT B fit-outs, or refurbishment projects
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Inventor/Autodesk Software

  • Experience working with contractors, designers, and architects
  • Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management
  • Understanding of construction contracts and tender processes
  • Relevant construction or joinery qualifications
