About the Role

The Bench Joiner will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly and finishing of high-quality bespoke joinery and furniture components, working from approved manufacturing drawings and technical specifications. Using both traditional and modern woodworking techniques, the successful candidate will assemble and finish bespoke products to an exceptional standard, working closely with the Design, CNC Programming, Machining, Veneering and Production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret production drawings, assembly drawings, cutting lists and manufacturing documentation.
  • Manufacture and assemble bespoke cabinets, furniture, doors, wardrobes, wall panelling, reception desks and other bespoke joinery products.
  • Carry out dry fitting of components to ensure dimensional accuracy before final assembly.
  • Fit hardware including hinges, drawer systems, runners, locks, handles, lighting components and specialist ironmongery.
  • Carry out trimming, fitting, sanding and preparation to achieve the required quality standard.
  • Use hand tools, portable power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
  • Ensure all completed products comply with manufacturing drawings and customer specifications.
  • Carry out quality checks throughout the assembly process.
  • Identify manufacturing defects and report quality concerns promptly.
  • Work closely with CNC Operators and Machinists to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Assist with the movement, storage and protection of completed products.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding project progress and manufacturing issues.
  • Keep workstations clean, organised and safe throughout the working day.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and safe storage of Company tools and equipment.
  • Comply with all Company Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work and manufacturing procedures.
  • Support colleagues across the manufacturing department to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in quality, efficiency and workmanship.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by Management.

Requirements / Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Bench Joiner within a bespoke joinery, furniture or cabinetry manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of traditional and modern woodworking techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience manufacturing and assembling bespoke furniture and joinery.
  • Strong experience using hand tools, portable power tools and workshop equipment.
  • Experience fitting hinges, drawer systems, runners, locks, handles and specialist ironmongery.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances and production deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and practical approach to manufacturing issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider production team.
