About the Role

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to become a key part of a busy and customer-focused builders merchant branch. As a Sales Assistant, you will support both trade and retail customers by providing product advice, processing sales, and helping to maintain high service standards within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers in branch and over the phone
  • Provide accurate advice on products, pricing, and stock availability
  • Process orders, quotations, returns, and payments using EPOS systems
  • Maintain a clean and well-presented trade counter
  • Support stock control within the sales area
  • Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat business
  • Liaise with yard and warehouse teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment

Requirements / Skills:

  • Experience within a builders merchant, trade counter, or retail environment preferred
  • Knowledge of building materials or construction products desirable
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proactive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy environment
