About the role:

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills within a growing smart building technology business.

Working closely with our Senior Engineers, you will support the preparation of technical applications, project tendering and lighting control solutions across a wide range of commercial projects. The role combines technical understanding with client communication, giving you exposure to both the engineering and commercial sides of the business.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and naturally curious, someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and learning through hands‑on experience. You will also gain exposure to industry‑leading lighting control technologies, software platforms and smart building systems, with opportunities to continue developing your technical knowledge as part of a collaborative and experienced team. No two projects are the same, which means this role offers plenty of variety, responsibility and opportunities to grow.

Where will you be working?

Hoddesdon/London Office (flexibility for home working)

  • Foster long-term relationships through regular engagement with prospective clients, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Take the lead in expanding existing client relationships, to contribute to the growth of our orderbook.
  • Proactively identify potential sales opportunities and generate leads.
  • Proactively seek out new projects and apply on the job learning to utilise new product or software features.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the contracting client throughout the project lifecycle, from the initial tendering process to the final delivery and evaluation.
  • Actively participate in the tendering process by preparing and submitting high quality proposals that meet the client’s requirements and expectations.
  • Fully utilise the company systems to manage opportunities and pipeline.
  • Perform any duties that align with the post holder’s responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of project tenders, including documentation of follow up actions and communications with potential clients.
  • Analyse the 30-day forecast and identify the most promising projects based on criteria such as budget, scope, timeline, and feasibility.
  • Monitor the progress of 30%, 50%, and 70% projects within the 90-day forecast and proactively engage with contractors to build rapport, address concerns, and provide solutions that increase the likelihood of securing projects.

Skills that will help you in this role?

  • Experience in an Applications Engineer role or similar.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical circuitry, schematics, lighting, power, and mechanical layout drawings.
  • Understand installation requirements for Simmtronic equipment.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, with the ability to quickly learn new tools

Training will be provided for the suitable candidate.
