Responsibilities

  • Provide and manage the conflict checking service for all new clients and matters, screening for sanctions, AML compliance and ensuring documentation meets compliance requirements.
  • Shared responsibility for providing the conflict and sanctions checking service to the firm worldwide.
  • Analyse conflict check requests, run searches in Intapp for legal and commercial conflicts and confidential information issues.
  • Assist in maintaining the client and matter opening database to improve data quality.
  • Maintain related documentation and ensure conflict checks and matters are accurately finalised in line with internal policies and procedures.
  • Search databases and publicly available sources to identify ownership and corporate structures as required for conflict and risk purposes.
  • Carry out matter and, where applicable, client risk assessments in line with AML legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with the Business and other business service functions to uphold the department’s reputation.
  • Document and, where needed, escalation to senior team members or management of any conflict, AML, financial crime or reputational risks identified.
  • Work with the team to manage workload and proactively support the department.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a conflicts‑related role preferred but not essential.
  • Law firm or similar regulated market/corporate experience helpful, with a keen interest in Conflicts/AML.
  • Basic understanding of money laundering/KYC (Know Your Client) regulation and UK conflicts rules a benefit, or at least a keen interest with the ability to discuss the topics.
  • Ability to learn and develop understanding of the areas in which the Business Acceptance function operates.
  • Familiarity with client base and the type of work the firm does.
  • Business research skills.
  • Broad IT skills.
  • Willingness to learn and fully engage with the training and the team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication style.
  • High commitment to accuracy and efficiency, and building relationships with others in the firm.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and an enquiring mindset, prepared to ask questions where things are unclear.
  • Ability to organise workloads, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify potential risks.
  • Strong sense of teamwork.
  • The normal working hours are 9.30 – 17.30; flexibility with working hours and willingness to work extra or unsociable hours when required.

Career Level

The career level assigned to this role is Level 2. The framework ranges from Level 1 to Level 7 and defines the responsibilities, skills and competencies required at each level.
