Our Construction Disputes team advises clients across the global construction and engineering sector on complex, high-value disputes at every level of the contractual chain. We provide sector-focused expertise across all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation, as well as the recognition and enforcement of judgments and awards. Our teams are tailored to the specific needs of each dispute, drawing on a deep bench of specialists, including dual-qualified engineers and experienced construction professionals.

Our lawyers regularly act in the Technology and Construction Court and in domestic and international arbitrations, advising on the full spectrum of construction disputes, including defects, delay and disruption claims, payment issues, terminations, force majeure and liquidated damages. The team is recognised for its involvement in some of the industry’s most complex, high-value matters, providing strategic, commercially focused advice to achieve successful outcomes.

Following continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Supervising Associate (3–6 PQE) to join the team in London or Bristol. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging matters within a collaborative, high-performing team with strong international reach.

The Role

You will play a key role within our Construction Disputes team, advising on a broad range of complex, high-value contentious construction matters across the UK and internationally. You will work closely with leading partners across the UK and global network, gaining exposure to sophisticated, often multi-jurisdictional disputes across major infrastructure, energy, real estate and engineering projects.

Your work will include:

  • Advising on construction litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC)
  • Acting on arbitrations, adjudications and other forms of alternative dispute resolution
  • Handling high-value, multi-party disputes involving delay, disruption, defective works and professional negligence issues
  • Delivering strategic advice on dispute avoidance and risk management throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Supporting on large, complex matters while also taking responsibility for discrete workstreams
  • Acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients and building strong, trusted relationships
  • Working closely with colleagues across the firm, including non-contentious construction, real estate and wider disputes teams
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team development
  • Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the practice
What we're looking for
  • 3–6 years’ PQE in construction disputes, with experience gained at a leading firm operating in the UK market
  • Experience in PFI and/or fire safety matters highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of standard form construction contracts (including NEC and/or FIDIC)
  • Commercially minded with strong technical and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate strong client focus and the ability to build relationships
  • Are collaborative, proactive and keen to develop their practice
