Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed credit analysis and risk assessments on prospective investments across a diversified emerging markets portfolio.
- Assess the financial strength, business models and creditworthiness of borrowers and counterparties, with a particular focus on non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and specialist lenders.
- Build and review financial models to evaluate credit risk, cash flow generation, debt servicing capacity and investment performance.
- Analyse financial statements, portfolios, collateral structures and market dynamics to support investment decisions.
- Produce high-quality investment risk papers and recommendations for internal investment committees.
- Partner closely with investment professionals throughout the deal lifecycle, providing independent challenge and risk input on new transactions.
- Monitor existing investments, identifying emerging risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring, stress testing and scenario analysis where appropriate.
- Keep abreast of macroeconomic, political and regulatory developments across emerging markets and assess their potential impact on investments.
Requirements
- 2-4 years' experience within Risk, Credit Risk, Investment Risk or Credit Analysis gained within a bank, private equity firm, development finance institution or similar investment business.
- Experience analysing non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs), specialist lenders or emerging markets would be highly advantageous.
- Strong financial modelling, financial statement analysis and cash flow forecasting skills.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities with the ability to assess complex investment opportunities.
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering or another highly quantitative discipline.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work directly alongside investment professionals and senior stakeholders.
- Spanish language skills would be highly desirable given the firm's significant investment activity across Latin America.
- An interest in emerging markets and international investing, with a commercial mindset and strong attention to detail.
