Our client

Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a Vice President, Legal Counsel (Derivatives Lawyer) to join their EMEA Legal Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will support a key strategic project while also advising across Global Markets and Corporate & Investment Banking legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on international transactions, projects, and initiatives, including regulatory and reputational issues.

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex derivatives and hedging documentation (ISDA, FBF, CMOF, repos, TRS, equity/credit derivatives).

• Review loan agreements, CTAs, STID/ICA, and related finance documents.

• Provide legal advice on flow derivatives, repo, and securities lending transactions (GMRA, GMSLA, CSA, IM documentation, guarantees).

• Manage external counsel efficiently and contribute to internal working groups and industry forums.

Experience requirements

• Qualified lawyer (UK or equivalent jurisdiction) with at least five years’ PQE from a top law firm or major financial institution.

• Strong technical expertise in finance-linked derivatives and hedging.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-specialists.
