Our client is a major global energy trading house with a portfolio spanning LNG, coal and freight across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. They are hiring a Legal Counsel to sit within their Legal, Compliance & Contracts team in London, drafting and negotiating LNG trading agreements, as well as advising on compliance matters.
- Negotiate and draft agreements across LNG, coal, power, ISDAs/derivatives and freight
- Advise the business on legal risk, spotting issues before they become problems
- Train the wider team on ABC, competition law, AML and sanctions
LNG trading experience is essential — this is the #1 requirement. A broad physical commodities trading background is required, with 4–8 years PQE, qualified lawyer, top law firm or in-house pedigree. Sharp drafting and negotiation skills, and the commercial instincts to match are necessary.
