Notting Hill, London | Full-time, office-based
About Us
Simmer is a meal delivery service built on a simple idea: healthy food should taste extraordinary. Founded by brothers Simmy and Jhai with just £10 of ingredients, the business has grown into a c.£100m ARR consumer business serving tens of thousands of customers and in both 2025 and 2026, The Sunday Times' 5th fastest-growing private company. We're not a startup finding its feet. We're a business with serious momentum and a clear ambition: to become the defining brand in healthy eating.
This is a fully founder led business with no private equity or corporate layers. The founders still run the company, set the standard, and are present in the work. For those that join Simmer, you will operate with real authority, in direct proximity to the people driving the business, on problems that actually move the numbers.
.
We're proud of that growth, but we're much more interested in what comes next.
We've scaled with a deliberately lean team. That isn't a constraint, it's a philosophy. People here get unusually close to the work, the decisions and the problems that shape the business.
As Simmer gets bigger and more complex, Finance needs to scale with it.
We're looking for a Finance Associate to work closely with our Finance Director and help us build exactly that.
The Role
The fundamentals matter.
Month-end needs to be accurate. Reconciliations need to work. Cash needs to be understood.
Controls need to be dependable.
But doing the task isn't the end of the job.
Why did that number move?
Why does this reconciliation keep causing problems?
Why are we still doing this manually?
What does this actually mean for the business?
We're looking for someone who naturally asks the next question.
You'll work closely with our Finance Director across month-end, reporting, reconciliations, cash flow and controls, while getting broad exposure to how a fast-growing consumer business actually works.
As your understanding and judgement grow, so will what you're trusted with.
The goal is simple: become someone our Finance Director can give increasingly difficult problems to and trust that they'll come back understood, resolved and better than you found them.
What You'll Actually Do
- Support month-end and management reporting, making both faster and more reliable.
- Own reconciliations across banking, payment, ecommerce and accounting systems.
- Support cash-flow reporting, AP/AR and balance-sheet control.
- Investigate variances and anomalies until you understand what's driving them.
- Turn financial and operational information into clear, practical conclusions.
- Improve reporting so teams can get to useful information faster.
- Identify manual or repetitive processes and find better ways of doing them.
- Help automate Finance workflows and strengthen controls.
- Work across Operations, Growth, Customer Experience and Technology to solve practical business problems.
- Take ownership of issues and follow them through to resolution.
Who We're Looking For
You've built strong foundations in Finance and have recently qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
But you want more exposure. More responsibility. And a better understanding of how the whole business works.
You might be in practice and ready to stop looking at businesses from the outside.
You might already be in industry but feel you're becoming very good at one narrow part of Finance.
Or you might be somewhere smaller where you've already been trusted with more responsibility than your title suggests.
The exact route matters less than the trajectory you're on.
You're the person who finds it difficult to leave a number unexplained.
When something doesn't make sense, you keep digging.
When a process isn't working, you don't want to work around it forever.
When you say you'll do something, it gets done.
And when you're challenged, you're capable of changing your mind rather than defending a bad answer.
You're ambitious, but you're not looking to escape the fundamentals.
You want to master them, understand what sits beyond them and progressively become capable of more.
Specifically
- Recently qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Strong grounding in month-end, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and a genuine respect for accuracy.
- Commercial curiosity - you want to understand why something happened, not simply report that it did.
- High ownership - you follow things through and don't let things quietly slip.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Clear communicator who can make complicated information understandable.
- Low ego and happy getting into detailed or unglamorous work.
- Coachable and comfortable having your thinking challenged.
- Comfortable with pace, direct feedback and evolving processes.
Experience in ecommerce, consumer, food or subscription businesses would be useful, but isn't essential.
We're much more interested in how you think, how you operate and the trajectory you're on.
Why This Role?
You've spent the first part of your career building your technical foundations.
The question is what you want the next few years to teach you.
At Simmer, you won't be one of twenty accountants responsible for one small part of a mature Finance function.
You'll work directly with an experienced Finance Director inside a c.£100m ARR, founder-led consumer business that is still evolving quickly.
You'll see how acquisition, retention, pricing, product, operations and customer experience ultimately show up in revenue, margin and cash.
You'll learn where the numbers come from, not just how to report them.
You'll see where processes break as businesses scale and have the opportunity to make them better.
Some days you'll investigate an interesting business problem and others you'll work out why a reconciliation is £17.42 out.
Both matter.
Because the opportunity isn't to skip the fundamentals it's to become excellent at them, and then keep going.
If you're looking for a role where the amount you're trusted with can grow as quickly as you do, we'd love to hear from you.
