Job Description: The DHS CBP Program Management Office Directorate (PMOD) serves as the Independent Test Authority (ITA) for CBP acquisition programs and requires comprehensive systems engineering and test and evaluation (T&E) support. SimIS seeks an Integration Specialist to ensure seamless interoperability between diverse border security technologies and systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in system integration, interface design, and the development of common operating pictures that consolidate data from multiple sensor systems. The Integration Specialist works closely with systems engineers and field teams to ensure all components work together effectively to achieve comprehensive border coverage.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of systems integration experience with complex technological systems
- Knowledgeable of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for system communication
- Knowledgeable of Cloud-based Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS)
- Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability background check
- Strong analytical skills for complex integration challenges
- Excellent technical documentation and coordination abilities
- 25% travel required
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in system integration methodologies and best practices
- Experience with interface control documents and system specifications
- Knowledge of common operating picture development and data fusion
- Understanding of surveillance system protocols and data formats
- Proficiency in integration testing and validation procedures
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure system interoperability between disparate border security technologies
- Develop and maintain System Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for all system interfaces
- Design common operating picture specifications that integrate data from all sensor systems
- Support integration testing and validation of system interfaces
- Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to resolve integration issues
- Develop integration procedures and technical specifications
- Support system architecture development with integration expertise
- Validate system integration requirements and specifications
- Provide technical expertise for integration aspects of trade studies
- Document integration procedures and maintain integration standards
- Support field teams with integration-related technical issues
- Ensure compliance with CBP integration requirements and standards
